Underdog Saints were able to pull of an upset that was much needed for the city of New Orleans. As the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts squared up tonight in a game that will surely not be forgetten. In the first quater things were looking grim for the Saints as the Colts pulled ahead with a 10 point lead, however this was changed in the second quarter as the Saints Hartly was able to put up two plus forty yard field goals to give the Saints six going to halftime. Comming out of half time the Saints made a risky onside kick that proved to pay off with the Saints recovering the ball. This was the only onside kick in NFL Super bowl history that was not in the fourth quarter. The Saints took full advantage of getting an extra possesion by driving down the field and scoring once agian. But this was no cake walk for the Saints as they had to continue to battle the relentless Colts. Peyton Manning answered the Saints drive by taking his team back down the field to set up the touch down by running back Joshep Addai. With the score close Saints 16 Colts 17 it was neck and neck until the Saints decided to pull out all the stops. The saints went on to score two more touch downs to seal the game. 13 year old commits to USC
Feb 5th
13 years old, not a bad age to get a scholarship offer from one of the premier football schools in the land. David Sills has been put on the national spot light with this unique opportunity. This offer from The University of Southern California is a new milestone for recruiting and sports. He is going to be part of the 2015 recruiting class……..that’s right and USC has made their move, is that a smart move or is that taking youth sports way too far? Football is not an easy sport to spot true talent especially if the athlete is 5 years from actually playing for you. I say this is ridiculous, Sills’ hasn’t even played a single high school football game. The boy has been playing 8th graders. He probably has unthinkable skills for a child his age but there is too much time between now and when he steps into the college arena. Chances are he will be a special player but its way to soon to make a offer like this. Click here to make your own assessment.
Wes Welker to Undergo Surgery
Feb 4th
During the first quater of the Patriots most recent encounter with the Texans the “Natural” a.k.a. Wes Welker slipped on a pass route and went down clutching his knee. The buckled knee was hopefully thought to be just an sprain, however it seems to have been much worse. Welker underwent MRIs to determine the extent of the damage, and he tore both the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in the knee. This is undoubtablly a loss for the New England Patriots who rely heavily on Wes Welker for his ablity to get open and make big time plays. Today Welker underwent surgery at Massachusets General Hospital in order to begin the recovery process. Coach Bill Belichick voiced his concerns over Welker who he notes is such a valuable asset to the team. Look for teammates to step up in order to compenstate for the loss of Welker especially younger players like Julian Edelman. Despite missing two games Welker set a franchise high 123 catches and 1,348 receiving yards. Doctors say he will begin rehab within the next two weeks; knowing Welker he will work hard to bounce back to the center of the Patriots offense.
Freeney injury update
Feb 1st
Colts premier pass rusher Dwight Freeney has been reported to have a third degree sprain in his ankle which is a tear of a ligament, it is located on the outer parts of his right ankle, and he has been in a walking boot the past week. The ankle is still swollen, there is a problem with stability and pain. The Colts training staff and Freeney continue to rehab the ankle, hopefully enough to the point where he will be able to play. As of right now it’s about a 50/50 decision on playing in the Superbowl. He has been known to be a fast healthier and have a high threshold for pain but a ligament problem like this presents a tough situation for him and the Colts. If Freeney doesn’t play it will give Brees more time to make checks and throw the ball down field. Even if he does play look for the Saints to take advantage of the injury.
Superbowl XLIV Key Match Ups
Jan 30th
Colts-Saints, Manning-Brees a Superbowl full of match ups and a pair of highly tuned offensives. Besides the obvious battle between the two quarterbacks where else are the big plays going to come from? One that everyone should keep their eye on is the Colts defensive line versus the Saints offensive line. The Colts D-line led by their two defensive ends, Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis will be matched up against Tackles, Jonathan Stinchcomb and Jermon Bushrod. Stinchcomb was selected to the pro bowl this year but Bushrod is a backup who is the weak link on this saint’s line. Look for the Colts to rush heavy from the edge with those two top notch ends. Another deciding factor will be whether or not Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark will be able to beat the Saints playmaking defensive backs, the ones to note are, outstanding safety and defensive player of the year Darren Sharper and also their superb corner Jabari Greer. These are some of a few matchups that should not be over looked for the deciding factor of this game. Tune in on February 7th for a great match up in Miami. Click here to read more
Rough Road for UNC?
Jan 21st
UNC is known for their typically powerhouse basketball programs, however their play so far this year has shown otherwise. They are currently 1-3 in conference play and 12-7 overall. The tar heels three game loosing streak is unheard of. Head coach Butch Davis is struggling with the loss of four of his starters from last year to the NBA. There is a need for younger players to step up and become play makers. Ed Davis and Deon Thompson are leading the way but it is going to take more than just two to get the defending champs back to the promise land. At the rate they are going now there is a chance that they will not even make it to March. See who UNC has coming up next.

Gilbert Suspended Indefinitely
Jan 15th
On December 21 Gilbert Arenas pulled a gun from his locker on a fellow team mate after a practice. It was allegedly due to a disagreement over a game of poker. Arenas was charged with a felony and a single count of gun possession. Today Arenas was in a Washington, D.C. court room attempting to enter into a plea for his charge of gun possession. A plea will enable him to spend little or no time in jail. However there is a price he will have to pay. Arenas will be fined by the NBA and the Wizards for every game that he misses. Read More.
